Smoked filet of trout, white wine dill cream, crostini, cucumber, cherry tomato and pickled red onion.
Black Pepper Bacon
Double cut cherry smoked Berkshire bacon pepper crusted and grilled in a sweet and spicy glaze with pickled red onion
Duck Wings
Six crispy duck drums tossed in a teriyaki glaze. Served with Thai chili sauce.
Scallops Coquilles
Scallops, parmesan cheese, potatoes and scallions baked on the half shell.


Served with smashed red potatoes and vegetable. Add sautéed shrimp $12

Lemon Caper Trout
Traditional roast trout in white wine, butter, capers, mushroom and lemon.
Campfire Trout
Pan seared rainbow trout stuffed with fresh shallots. house smoked bacon, kale, lemon and finished with our signature guide seasoning.
Grand Marnier Trout
A house favorite. Sautéed with delicate Grand Marnier butter and topped with seasoned bread crumbs.
Blackened Trout Florentine
Blackened Rainbow trout topped with sautéed spinach, cherry tomatoes and garlic cream sauce.


Served with smashed red potatoes and vegetable

A signature Adirondack experience. Half Campfire trout, grilled venison chop, and roast duck. MAP surcharge of $15 for package guests

THE HUNGRY TROUT RESTAURANT overlooks the Flume Falls section of the West Branch of the Ausable River. Reputed to be the finest Adirondack restaurant experience, our restaurant offers fresh trout, venison, steaks and a host of savory dishes all prepared with a unique Adirondack flair.

Houseguests receive preferred window seating with views of the brightly lit waterfalls and mountain sunsets. A wonderful accompaniment to a special evening. One of the best Adirondack restaurant experiences in the Lake Placid area, you will not be disappointed.We are located less than one mile from the entrance of Whiteface mountain.

The Hungry Trout began with the Bottcher family 40 years ago. Jerry and Linda Bottcher set out with the mission to build one of the very best Adirondack restaurants and resorts. For the following 40 years the Bottcher family built and maintained the legacy of what would become the Hungry Trout. Be that as it may, In 2022 after 40 years of building, maintaining and running the resort, the Bottchers retired.

In February of 2022, Jerry and Linda henceforth passed on the torch to the Forman family. Above all, Matt and Laura Forman are excited to continue offering the wonderful experience the Hungry Trout has provided. Furthermore, we look forward to offering this to everyone for the next 40 years.
